Association Arbres de Casma

Association Arbres de Casma

Ecological institution for the promotion and implementation of sustainable development

Objectives:

  • Afforestation of arid areas in Casma (Peru)
  • Development of projects related to solar and wind renewable energies, with bicycle mechanical energy, for different uses
  • Preparation of natural fertilizers, essential oils, fruit vinegar and natural soaps
  • Fruit drying and reproduction of trees adapted to arid regions
  • Development of simple furniture construction techniques with recycled materials such as pallets

"Arbres de Casma" is an association of men and women of good will, with a cooperative spirit, respectful of ecology and the environment, whose purpose is to help protect the environment of the Casma-Ancash Valley, Peru, and to contribute to the development of agricultural activities, the promotion of renewable energies and the training of the population in sustainable development.

Casma Valley

We focus on environmental protection, sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.

The Casma Valley has been repeatedly devastated by floods and catastrophic rains due to the lack of forestation of the riverbanks. This has led to the elimination of almost 50% of the total cultivable land. This situation has caused a massive displacement of the rural population to the cities where they cannot easily integrate through work or other sources of personal and/or professional or artisanal development, due to the lack of technical or practical training, since this population consists of farmers or livestock breeders, activities that are hardly accepted in the large cities to which they migrate.

"Science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul"

- François Rabelais

Our Association aims to reforest the banks of the Casma River to help naturally defend cultivable lands during rainy periods and, in this way, contribute to increasing such lands for farmers who have lost theirs and facilitate their return to their places of origin, in addition to encouraging the use of renewable energies: solar, wind for direct use on their lands or stables for livestock.
